Selling a Legacy: Assisting Owners in Selling Their Business After Four Decades

The Fort Smith Athletic Club has long been considered one of the premier racquet sports facilities in the region. The club not only provided great tennis, racquetball, and pickleball courts to people in the River Valley, but also featured an 8,000-square-foot fitness center. Owners Steve Williamson and Randy Hollis aimed to create a welcoming community in the River Valley for members to meet, play, and have fun. All while improving their personal and family wellness. Simply put, they wanted to connect their members with friendship through fitness. Their vision and dedication to executing it have been an enormous asset to the community for over 40 years. Earlier this year, Steve and Randy decided that it was time to sell their beloved business so that someone else could take over, address the fitness, training, and racquet sports needs of the next generation, and move the business forward. They contacted REP for help with the process. And we got to work.

Once we listed and marketed the business confidentially, we received a lot of interest, with dozens of potential buyers and multiple offers. 45 Investments, a group consisting of Noel Sanger, Clint Crossno, and Juan Barbara, eventually purchased the facility. Like Steve and Randy, they understand that physical fitness and connection are essential for health and plan to continue providing both for the community. They’ve created a 24/7 family-friendly facility, renamed "The Hangout Fitness and Sports," where individuals and families can train, play, work out, and hang out. It's an ideal fitness and racquet sports facility for this and future generations. You can find out more by visiting their Facebook page.
